Campaign Against the Cuts

The Branch along with other trade unions held a protest in the Square, Shrewsbury on Saturday 18th January.  There was a lot of support and we collected signatures for the Living Wage Campaign and gave out leaflets regarding the cuts and the impact on staff and the region.

Next national strike day announced in higher education pay dispute.

UNISON along with UCU and EIS have today announced a further 1 day national strike for the 6 February 2013 in response to the HE employers refusal to improve their inadequate 1%  pay offer. Unite are currently undertaking further consultation.

Universities are refusing to make a decent pay offer, despite holding huge cash reserves, which are predicted to continue for the next few years by the Higher Education Funding Council, which describes university finances as being "sound overall";.

Hello Clive,

Message from Chief Executive Shropshire Council

No doubt some members will have seen this message when it was sent out late Friday January 17th, and no doubt those that did will have felt as angry and disappointed as UNISON did that such a message was:

a) sent out at all and

b) sent out late on a Friday afternoon without the trade unions knowledge which I believe is counter productive and works against us having positive industrial relations with our employer.
